Ripple Zero Waste
It is amazing to see the awareness of the environmental impact that our lifestyles cause, as well as the desire to change, has only increased over the last few years. One of the most frustrating things for aspiring eco-warriors is the fact that plastic is EVERYWHERE; clothing, homeware and most ridiculously annoying of all food, it can feel inescapable.
Of course that's not completely the case and at Illustrate are committed to cutting all single use plastic from our supply chain come the end of 2018 and we're not the only ones looking to make waves with small changes. We are supporting Ripple a new zero waste shop coming to Cardiff.
Who is Ripple?
Ripple is looking to be Cardiff's first not-for-profit zero waste store, a format our friends over in London, Bristol and across the pond may be familiar with. Their aim is to of make a waste free lifestyle accessible for everyone. They'll be stocking over 120 bulk wholefoods on the proviso that you bring along you're own containers, all shapes and sizes welcome, so you're cutting out waste and saving money by not paying for unnecessary packaging! They're also going to have a selection of the best cruelty-free home and beauty products, think eco shampoo's and detergents, as well as a range of ethical homeware and fashion. In short it'll be a one stop shop for those of you who prize sustainability as well as quality - make a splash and those ripples of change will keep on rolling.
How do I help?
As you can guess setting up a not-for-profit zero waste shop is no mean feat and when it's the first of it's kind, even with the local community calling out for it, its a big task for sure. Ripple is currently running a Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/215432144/ripple-cardiffs-first-not-for-profit-zero-waste-st/description) to help them get the ball rolling and they're offering a variety of eco-based bundles depending on the amount you donate. Always happy to help we gifted them 5 Sustainable Stationary Set's and a Hoodie and Art Bundle which we were delighted to see snapped up in record time. There's still tonnes of other awesome ethical prizes to get your hands on and it's a great idea that needs your support so check it out!
